Should I Rebid Partner’s Minor Suit?
Where possible, you are aiming to play the game in a major suit contract, as more tricks are required to make game in a minor suit.
Bid A 4 Card Major, if you have one.
When partner has opened with a bid of a minor suit we should bid a 4 card major at the one level (if we have one) as we don’t want to miss a possible 8 card major fit.
Example
With this hand we should bid 1 Heart rather than supporting partner’s minor suit bid
. If a major suit fit isn’t found we can support partner’s clubs later.
Note that we should bid a four card major even with poor suit quality. Our bid at the one level doesn’t promise partner that we have quality in the suit, only that we have at least 4 cards.
